Multi-national operatic quartet Il Divo is performing in Helsinki and Turku in Spetmeber

IN SUPPORT of their most recent release, A Musical Affair, multi-national operatic quartet Il Divo is coming to Finland to perform a duo of concerts in Helsinki and Turku, on 9 and 10 September.

Consisting of French pop singer Sébastien Izambard, Spanish baritone Carlos Marín, American tenor David Miller, and Swiss tenor Urs Bühler, the quartet was formed in 2004 by Simon Cowell. Known for bringing pop stardom within reach of the everyman with the likes of TV’s Idol, their famed manager came up with the concept after listening to Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman’s rendition of Con Te Partirò.

The quartet set out to recreate the classic sound of the Three Tenors, Plácido Domingo and José Carreras and Luciano Pavarotti. Their self-titled debut release arrived in 2004, quickly hitting the top of the charts. Five subsequent releases did almost as well, with the quartet’s profile cemented by performing the 2006 FIFA World Cup official song, The Time of Our Lives, with R&B singer Toni Braxton.
